Family owned Castagna was the first serious biodynamic vineyard in Australia and are situated at an altitude of 500 metres outside the historic town of Beechworth in north-east Victoria, high in the foothills of the Australian Alps. The wines of Castagna are some of our most multi awarded wines, and are at the forefront of the new Australia. Julian Castagna was given the Australian Winemaker of the Year in 2014 and his adult son Adam, also a winemaker makes Adam’s Rib “The Red” and “The White” with the intention of making drinkable, affordable wines with lots of character.
Castagna’s wines have been highly awarded with prominent wine writers and critics such as Janice Robinson, Robert Parker, James Halliday and Tyson Seltzer and seldom receive ratings less than 95+ points. Genesis Syrah was added to Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine – Langton’s Classification is the accepted indicator of Australian Classed growths and is regarded as the definitive indicator of the top Australian wines.
Castagna is available in fine restaurants all over the world including Lavinia in the Boulevard de la Madeleine in Paris, considered the best wine shop in the world.
