Te Rere

Our Story

Te Rere Estate is a boutique, family-owned vineyard on Church Bay, Waiheke Island. The realisation of a dream for owner David Parkinson, its sole purpose is producing small volumes of premium wines through sustainable viticulture and winemaking. French winemaker/viticulturist, Luc Desbonnets, applies a very much hands-off approach in the winery, by relying on meticulous work in the vineyard and very low crops to create immaculate fruit, then allowing, as much as possible, nature to takes its course in the winery.

Te Rere makes a range of different varietals. A well balanced Sauvignon Blanc with some extended lees stirring to add texture, a dry Pinot Gris, superb Chardonnay, and a Reserve Syrah. Most of these wines have received accolades with the Chardonnay and Reserve Syrah receiving 4.5 and 5 stars from Michael Cooper. Te Rere wines showcase a unique sense of place, and prove that small-production wines from a micro-site vineyard can still pack an impressive punch.
