“A blend of five different clones, the 2016 Pinot Noir A2 is slightly lighter in weight than the A1, with a redder fruit profile and more floral notes. It’s medium-bodied and silky in texture, more a drink-now proposition than something you’d want to bury in the cellar, but still darn tasty.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Tasted alongside the previous vintage, this is a richer and riper pinot noir with bright cherry, violet and raspberry jube flavours. The wine has an ethereal texture and a lengthy finish.” – Bob Campbell MW

“Lovely floral, expressive black cherry and raspberry fruit with nice freshness, combining good acidity with a bit of grippy tannin. Medium bodied and fresh, this has lovely drinkability, with some pepper and herb savoury notes adding interest. This is nicely expressive, combining some structure, some sweet fruit, and subtle hints of damson, rhubarb and lavender in the background. Beautifully constructed.” – Jamie Goode

“Dark plum, tobacco and sour cherry aromas lead in to a dense, quite nervy palate where red and dark fruit notes hold sway. There’s nothing laid back about the texture – the tannins are edgy and generous. An intriguing style that will develop well over the next few years. Serve with fennel-laced slow-cooked pork.” – Cuisine Magazine

“This is even and with good depth and intensity. Medium-full bodied, the palate has bright and elegantly concentrated flavours of dark-red cherry fruit with lifted red florals and subtle fresh herb and stalk notes. The fruit is supported by fine powdery tannin extraction with soft, lacy acidity. The fruit sweetness is enlivened by the acidity and the wine carries to an elegant, lingering finish. This is an elegant, finely concentrated Pinot Noir with dark-red cherry fruit, with floral and herb notes, on a refreshing palate.” – Raymond Chan

Tasting Note: Moderate garnet with a mauve edge. Medium intensity plum fruit with subtle cinnamon spice lift defines the nose. The concentration of the primary fruit aromatics builds giving dimension. There is a background nuance of licorice and lavender florals, which elegantly fold into a gentle gamey bouquet. Generous and succulent with a supple tannin texture, the palate has a silky flow with juicy acidity giving impressive length and persistence. Brightness and approachability are the driving force of this wine, however a hint of complexity we have come to expect from this vineyard adds a layer of real and intriguing character to the fruit depth.
