Chateau Le Puy Emilien 1995

Chateau Le Puy is “surely one of Bordeaux’s most overlooked estates” according to Decanter’s Jane Anson
The 1995 Emilien is a New Zealand exclusive shipped direct from Le Puy’s cellars in a temperature-controlled container.
Tasting Note: Absolutely sumptuous. A cornucopia of mature characters unfurl on the nose – wet forest floor, mushroom, tobacco, and exotic spice – but the red and dark fruits are still very much alive. The palate is open, generous and velvety, not remotely austere, and the tannins are integrated like slow-cooked beef cheeks melting into a winter braise. This was a great vintage for right-bank Merlot more so than Cabernet, and it shows in the retained acidity and texture that support this wine through a long, long finish. Direct from the Le Puy cellars. Perfect for drinking now. 85% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Carmenère, aged 24 months in oak vats.
