“To be released this fall in the US, the 2015 IGP Vaucluse Viognier was barrel-fermented and spent seven months in barriques (no newer than third use). It’s a lush, medium to full-bodied wine with the variety’s hallmark floral and apricot notes. With its exotic fruit, plush texture and long, slightly oily finish, it’s a fine alternative to Condrieu (and surpasses many).” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Bright, golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly presented with softly concentrated, ripe fruit aromas of apricots and yellow stonefruits, along with savoury apricot kernels, nutty elements and suggestions of earthy complexities. Yellow floral and citrus zest nuances emerge to add detail. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has vibrant and lively fruit flavours of apricots and yellow stonefruits entwined with yellow florals, savoury stonefruit kernels, nutty elements and a hint of earth. The fruit possesses a degree of opulence. The palate has plenty of energy and poise, and is underlined by some alcohol drive, with fresh acidity lending vibrancy. The wine flows along a smooth line, leading to an elegant finish of stonefruits, florals and nuts. This is a vibrant and lively, well-concentrated and flavoursome dry Viognier with apricot, stonefruit, kernel and nutty notes on a well-driven palate.” – Raymond Chan

Tasting Note: Honey and almonds on the nose, along with white pepper, faint vanillin and cardamom notes. Stone fruit is more nectarine than apricot, suggesting something fleshier and less concentrated. The palate confirms this, extremely round and generous with flashes of florals, a hint of white chocolate and peach/nectarine all the way through. Finishes dry and round with the faintest prickle of acidity to keep things balanced. An astrounding vintage in Rhone, and it shows.
