5 stars – Michael Cooper
“The 2013 vintage is a powerful, sturdy, Sauvignon Blanc-based wine (with some Viognier), fermented in a 3:1 mix of tanks and new oak barrels. Light lemon/green, it is fragrant, in a weighty, non-herbaceous style, showing lovely ripeness, richness and complexity. Sweet-fruited, with a subtle oak seasoning, it’s a distinctly northern style, reminiscent of Hawke’s Bay (or Bordeaux) equivalents, and delicious now.” – Michael Cooper
Tasting Note: A more French styled aromatic white with some lees and oak complexity and a textural focus that has seamless balance. Best after a couple of years bottle aging and great with fresh foods.
