Gil Family Estates brings together ten different artisanal producers under one label, and while these four reds have different flavour profiles based on the climates and soils they have been sourced from, they’re united by their small-production quality, sincere drinkability, and surprising affordability!
Bluegray Priorat 2015:
93/100 – James Suckling
91/100 – Wine Spectator
90/100 – Guia Penin
Tasting Note: 45% Garnacha, 30% Carignan, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Ripe black fruit and cherry flavors are focussed and accented by herbal, mineral and spicy notes. An expressive red with well-integrated tannins. Shows good balance and elegance with a caressing finish.
Tridente Tempranillo 2015:
91/100 – James Suckling
92/100 – Guia Penin
91/100 – Robert Parker (2009 vintage)
“Massive black fruit, and correspondingly large and seriously chewy, dry tannins. This wine needs some substantial food to cope with the latter. Love the finish. Drink now.” – James Suckling
Tasting Note: Aged 15 months in French oak. This deep purple wine has notes of toasty oak, graphite and balsamic. The flavors are densely fruit with creme de cassis persisting through the lingering finish.
