92/100 – Bob Campbell MW
“Chunky, full-flavoured red with bright fresh cassis, plum and spicy oak flavours. Stylish and appealing wine with “new world” style fruit and oak characters. Very approachable now but no rush.” – Bob Campbell MW
“A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot, this has aromas reminiscent of dark berry, bell pepper and underbrush. The easygoing palate shows dried black currant and tobacco alongside smooth tannins.” – Wine Enthusiast
Tasting Note: 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc, 25% Syrah, 25% Petit Verdot. Due to the warm, dry ventilated climate, and due to the temperature mitigated by proximity to the sea, the area of Contrada Graffetta, close to Ispica, is an optimal climate for such grape varieties as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The sun exposure guarantees a long and complex maturation of the grapes, which leads to a stronger structure and extract in the wine. Deep and intense red colour; aromas of ripe red berries over a background of toast and leather. Full-bodied with a velvety touch, with a pleasant and fruit-driven finish.
Winemaking Notes: Macerated under controlled temperature of 28ºC for 10-12 days. Malolactic Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, and the wine was aged fully in oak tonneaux for 6 months, 50% in steel tanks, and the final blend rested for at least 6 months in bottle.
