93/100 – Bob Campbell MW
“Attractive, fruit-focused pinot noir with dark cherry, Black Doris plum, spice and subtle rose petal flavours supported by ripe, gentle tannins. Very approachable now. Good value at this price. Drink 2021 to 2027.” – Bob Campbell MW
Tasting Note: Wharekaka is the re reo Maori name for Martinborough, connecting to the unique land on which this Pinot Noir was grown and vinified. From a favourable vintage and treated for 9 months in oak, this Pinot Noir is made with minimal intervention with very little fining or filtration. It shows ripe red fruits and a silky-smooth, gently tannic structure. This release is already approachable, but will cellar beautifully for 5+ years.
Variety: Pinot Noir
Region: Martinborough, New Zealand
