Koyama Tussock Terrace Riesling 2017
$35.00 inc. GST
Tasting Note: Bright golden colour with a pale straw hue. The aromas are of mandarin peel, with hints of honey and honey comb derived from botrytis influence. On the palate, slightly oily and rich, sweetness present but balanced with acidity and body derived from botrytis influence. Good drinking now, or can be cellared for another 5 years. Bottled at 18.8 g/l residual sugar.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes were sourced from free draining, gravel soil Vineyard in the heart of Waipara Valley. Vines were planted in 2004 by Mr. David Bedford. The 2017 vintage was a very successful vintage for Waipara Valley. Due to the rain during harvest time (beginning to mid April), the grapes were almost 100% botrytis influenced. After harvest, grapes were whole bunch pressed, then fined with carbon to take out the mouldy aroma derived from the Botrytis. Fermentation is stopped at about 19g/L residual sugar to balance with acidity. Semi-sweet style wine.
Region: Waipara Valley, North Canterbury, New Zealand
