91/100 – Jeb Dunnuck
90/100 – James Suckling

“Value seekers need to latch on to a few bottles of the 2016 Côtes du Rhône from Domaine de la Solitude. This Provençal beauty boasts notes of peppery herbs, dark fruits, and incense, is medium to full-bodied, has tons of fruit, and a great finish. It’s ideal for drinking over the coming 3-4 years.” – Jeb Dunnuck

“Some savory threads of coal smoke and dark minerals through ripe, black cherries and cassis. Nicely contained palate with plenty of fresh and rich fruit. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling

Tasting Note: Fresh, clean fruit with elegant tannins, this wine is an ideal dinner party companion. An enticing nose of concentrated, ripe red berry fruits, enhanced by subtle notes of black pepper and spice. Supple and rounded on the palate, supported by a delicate tannic structure. Pairs with charcuterie, cheeses and classic meat stew effortlessly.

Winemaking Notes: The grapes were fully destemmed. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled concrete tanks, with 25 days of maceration. Gentle extraction techniques such as pumping over or ‘remontage’, were used to retain the purity of fruit and obtain the velvety tannins which are characteristic of Domaine de la Solitude. The wine was matured in 100% in concrete tank, as per the traditional vinification of the Southern Rhône Valley. Grenache 60%, Syrah 30%, Mourvèdre 10%

Alcohol: 14.0%
