Meyer-Nakel Illusion 2018

“I LOVE this wine!! A wine I’d never heard of until this month is now one of my favourite things in the world. Located in the Ahr Valley, one of Germany’s oldest, northernmost and smallest wine regions, Näkel are pinot specialists growing on a tiny 18ha site on steep, south-facing slopes of greywacke and weathered slate – so this is a rare wine indeed. Peaches. Baked berries and cream, roast nectarine, vibrant minerality and citrus permeate the palate.” – Yvonne Lorkin

Tasting Note: From Pinot Noir grapes as a Blanc de Noir (weißgekelterter Spätburgunder). As colour is only contained in the Spätburgunder grape skin and not in its flesh, it is possible; that through careful pressing a white must is obtained that is vinfied into white wine. Very pale peach in colour, the wine is zesty and honeyed, yet dry and textural on the palate.

Alcohol Volume: 12.5%
