Created to celebrate diverse small-production vineyards around New Zealand, the Kemp Road series brings together great artisan winegrowers, whanau, history and the work of a professional artist in one beautiful package. Kemp Road wines are produced in close collaboration with the best artisan winemakers of New Zealand as one-off special edition releases of their favourite wines.
Pakiaka translates to ‘Roots’ from the Maori language, and in the piece adorning the label by New Zealand artist Liberty Jones, the concept of roots refers as much to the sense of place that this Malbec carries as it does to the figurative roots that bind us to the land, through respectful, low-intervention winemaking.
Tasting Note: Grown and vinified on a micro-site Biodynamic farm in Kaipara, Northland. Hand harvested, wild yeast fermented, 32-day skin contact post-ferment, then matured 13 months in American and French oak. An expressive, inky-red, dark-fruited wine that will mature gracefully in the bottle. Approximately one barrel of this wine was produced.
Alcohol Volume: 13.3%
Region: South Kaipara, New Zealand
This wine is not COLA approved and shipment to the US may be delayed. We will be in touch to confirm a time frame.
