“Puriri Hills Reserve wines rank among our most delicious and ageworthy reds” – 2015 Micheal Cooper on Puriri HIlls

4.5 stars – Bob Campbell
4 stars – Michael Cooper

“A stylish, Merlot-based blend… Originally intended to be marketed as Puriri Hills Reserve, it was declassified to the Estate label. Mouthfilling, with fullish, fairly mature colour, it is leathery, nutty and savoury, with hints of herbs and spices, fresh acidity and very good complexity.” – Michael Cooper

Tasting Note: The 2011 Puriri Hills Estate was bottled as a Reserve wine but declassified before release to Estate status. It has the highest percentage of Carménère in recent years (29%) and is Merlot dominant (50%) with Cabernet franc (14%) and Malbec. It’s a savoury, spicy wine with energy and cellaring potential.
