Pyramid Valley Field of Fire Chard 15

$160.00 inc. GST

96/100 – James Suckling
95/100 – Bob Campbell MW

“This is the more ethereal of the two chardonnays from Pyramid Valley. Aromas of dried meadow flowers, lemon blossom and jasmine sit across bright, fresh lemon and white peach fruits. Some grilled hazelnut, too. The palate has a sorbet-like texture that is refreshing and entrancing and it tastes of lemon and white peach, holds long and delivers a strikingly pure and energetic finish. Brilliant. Drink now.” – James Suckling

“Taut, high energy chardonnay with chalky mineral, citrus, grapefruit, wildflower, cashew nut and bran biscuit characters. A restrained wine with underlying power and an ethereal texture. Should develop well.” – Bob Campbell MW

Tasting Note: Something like freshly cut summer hay on the nose, with all sorts of chamomile, bran biscuit, floral and citrus nuances. All about energy and umami on the palate, filled with a wet stone mineral quality and subtle nutty, biscuit notes from the lees, finishing slightly creamy and very satisfying. A truly unique wine made with minimal handling and inputs only where unavoidable, it is great now but better after 2020.
