Experience two justly lauded releases from Marlborough micro-sites that reflect their terroir beautifully.

Sutherland-Till Chardonnay 2016:

94/100 – Bob Campbell MW
5 stars – Raymond Chan

Tasting Note: Goldenrod, acacia, honeydew melon and a slight buttered popcorn note. Lively struck stone notes prevent a toppling into richness and re-ignite energy and interest. After the glad easiness of the nose the palate seems adamant, almost scolding. This blend of flattery and instruction feels like a lucky phenomenon.

Winemaking Notes: Hand-picked from the legendary Surtherland-Till vineyard planted by Ivan Sutherland in 1983. Ivan was the man behind Cloudy Bay and more recently Dog Point. With 30 years of vine age and restrained barrel aging akin to a white Burgundy we see this wine cellaring beautifully. Clay bound gravels proffer both volume and aromatic lift, and the Mendoza clone conspire to provide tiny berries, thus high dry extract.

Alcohol Volume: 14.5%

Calrossie Pinot Noir 2016:

93/100 – Bob Campbell MW
5 stars – Raymond Chan

Tasting Note: Most immediately striking, when tasting, are harmony and balance: even before flavour. We always aim, with Pinot Noir, for a synchronicity of deftness, or grace, and intensity; this wine captures the effect nicely. Brambles and spice at first, then dark plum and mulberry, and a deep floral note. Sustained and sapid finish.

Alcohol Volume: 13.7%
