95/100 – Bob Campbell MW
93/100 – James Suckling (2017 vintage)
“Made from grapes grown in Hyde Park vineyard in the Grampians, Victoria. Fermented with indigenous yeasts using one-third whole-bunches. Elegant, high-energy shiraz with cherry, red-fleshed plum, five spice, pepper and subtle spicy oak characters. A vibrant, fruit-focused wine with a promising future.” – Bob Campbell MW
“An expressively fragrant and exceptionally alluring nose with dark cherries, red fruit, espresso and baking spices, all swirling in unison. The palate has an energetic, sleek and fluid feel. Plenty of spicy dark-plum and blackberry flavor here. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling
“The Grampians is such a magical place to grow Shiraz and this vineyard captures that so well. Vineyard manager Robin Kuchel takes care of this site in the way I have nurtured my daughter through her first years of life and it has made all the difference. I look forward to many more years of making beautiful wine from Hyde Park Vineyard.” – Sierra Reed, Winemaker
Tasting Note: From the Hutton and Dalberti Blocks of Hyde Park’s vineyard in Great Western. Cranberry to blueberry through tart plum fruits, black and white pepper, dry dusty earth, the wine glides along the palate with ease and balance. Reminiscent of Pinot Noir in texture it’s Shiraz in an aromatic, lithe hue.
Winemaking Notes: Handpicked, wild fermentation, ⅓ whole bunch, aged in large format old French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. 2,450 litres total production.
Region: Great Western, Victoria, Australia
