Rock Ferry 3rd Rock Chardonnay 2016

$39.90 inc. GST

Tasting Note: This Chardonnay has an intriguing bouquet of toasted walnut, nougat, & nectarine with distinctive notes of vanilla bean & lemon curd. A little crème brûlée on the palate with generous stone fruit flavours & a persistent line of acidity; laced with toasty, walnut complexities, the wine finishes dry & austere.

Winemaking Notes: Chardonnay is the world’s most popular variety – our chardonnay comes from our Corners Vineyard in Marlborough. Chardonnay styles have evolved over the last decade or so from this country, we aim to make a Chardonnay with elegance, power and restraint. We like the fruit to be seen supported by fine acidity and framed by some very good oak. We like our Chardonnay to speak quietly, elegantly and succinctly. The hand harvested grapes were whole bunch pressed. The cloudy juice was then racked the following day to a French oak cuve for the natural fermentation to start. It was then transferred to French barriques & puncheons (33% new) for spontaneous malolactic fermentation to start in the spring. The wine was then racked before fining with organic milk, filtered then bottled. Technical: Alc: 13.5% pH 3.44 TA 4.8g/l RS Dry
