92/100 – Cameron Douglas MS
5 stars – Yvonne Lorkin
4.5 stars – Michael Cooper
“This Chardonnay shows aromas of white peach, lemon curd and soft walnut aromas on the nose. The palate fills with golden stone fruit and a touch of green tea, guided by a persistent line of acidity. A complex yet elegant mid-palate extends to a lengthy finish.” – Cameron Douglas MS
“Certified organic, the pale gold 2019 vintage was estate-grown and hand-picked in The Corners Vineyard at Rapaura, and fermented and matured for 11 months in seasoned oak barriques. Full-bodied and fleshy, it is a generous, savoury wine with ripe stonefruit flavours, integrated toasty oak, fresh acidity, and lots of current-drinking appeal.” – Michael Cooper
Tasting Note: This Chardonnay has an intriguing bouquet of toasted walnut, nougat, & nectarine with distinctive notes of vanilla bean & lemon curd. A little crème brûlée on the palate with generous stone fruit flavours & a persistent line of acidity; laced with toasty, walnut complexities, the wine finishes dry & austere.
Winemaking Notes: The grapes were hand harvested, sorted and whole bunch pressed. The juice was settled for 24 hours and transferred into seasoned 225 L oak barrels where it went thru an indigenous fermentation. The wine was matured on full ferment lees and underwent malolactic fermentation in spring. After 11 months in oak it was lightly fined with organic milk and bottled in February 2020.
