“Dark red colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim with slight garnet-brick hues. The bouquet is softly full and voluminous with well-packed, deeply concentrated and harmoniously interwoven aromas of dark-red berry and plum fruit entwined with a layering of dried herbs, undergrowth and mushrooms, and complexing whole bunch stalk perfumes. Medium-full bodied, the palate is lively and vibrant with flavours of savoury dark red berries and plums melded with complex and integrated notes of dried herbs, undergrowth, truffles, and whole bunch stalk elements. The freshness of the mouthfeel is enhanced by piquant acidity, and the fruit forms a fine, concentrated core that is underlined by fine-grained, flowery-textured tannins that are just beginning to resolve. A little alcohol power adds to the drive, and the wine carries to a long, complex-nuanced, sustained finish. This is a rich and vibrant, savoury and complex layered and detailed Pinot Noir with dark berry and plum fruit with dried herb and undergrowth notes on a very fine-textured palate, showing very good development.” – Raymond Chan

“This “one-off” label was made by Grant Taylor from grapes grown in Waitaki in a very favourable vintage. It’s a supple, elegant and high energy Pinot Noir with bright cherry, mineral, spice and subtle herb flavours. The wine is showing the benefit of bottle age but remains fresh with plenty of potential for further development.” – Bob Campbell MW

Tasting Notes: An incredible, intoxicating  nose of blood orange, tamarillo, baking spice and macerated red fruits, with an herbaceous undertone. The palate is a three-act drama, subtle at first with delicate red fruits, before evolving into a sensuous and enveloping mid-palate exploding with darker fruits and deep, silky, melted-together tannins. The dénouement is a lengthy, lingering meaty/savoury finish tinged with herbs, with a flourish of spine-tingling acidity suggesting this wine will continue to develop for many years to come.
