Tasting Note: “2011 in Otago didn’t have the strongest reputation because of warm northwest rains just before harvest. But coming from the northwest, they may have affected much of the Cromwell basin but not Gibbston, as the Pisa Range sheltered us. So in 2011, Gibbston was our star. It is very much a classic Gibbston Pinot just starting to show the benefits of ageing. It is all spices and florals, acidity, length and elegance, with more old world characters than new especially enhanced by the years in bottle.” – Grant Taylor
