“Medium-full bodied, the flavours are well-proportioned with deep and intense, finely concentrated ripe blackberry and cassis fruit, along with boysenberries melded with black minerals and herbs. The fruit is supported by very fine-grained, flowery tannin extraction and grip, with balanced, lacy acidity. The wine has positive linearity and carries to a long and sustained finish of black fruits, herbs and minerals. This is a finely proportioned, intense and concentrated Touriga Nacional with ripe flavours of blackberries and cassis, black minerals and herbs on a fine-grained palate.” – Raymond Chan
“One of Portugal’s finest red grape varieties. Makes robust table wine and is an important component in port. Rich, ripe and, dare I say it, slightly porty red with plum, prune, malt and mocha flavours. A very distinctive and quite appealing red. Accessible now.” – Bob Campbell MW
Tasting Note: Single vineyard wine. So smooth you immediately understand why Touriga is Portugal’s top-dog red grape. Like sucking on a soft salted caramel as you soak up the warm summer sunshine. It’s the low and slow cooked brisket of red wine. It leads with ripe plum over the signature lavender, violet, clove and five spice aromatics of Touriga Nacional. On the palate it’s blue and red fruits wrapped in the uniquely rounded tannin profile coming to the fore. The depth and flavour of a much bigger wine, it slides down the throat with alarming ease. 11 months in French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered.
