Vinteloper Urban Project Red #6 2017
$49.90 inc. GST
Tasting Note: 52% Shiraz, 48% Tempranillo. Dark and red fruits on the nose, plus a hint of blueberry, with exotic spices ranging from cinnamon through to allspice. Some wet earth/undergrowth notes suggest it’s not just about the fruit. Upfront on the palate it hits with an unexpected punch, but while we find fruit first, it quickly melts into a savoury, herbs-and-spices mid-palate. Enveloping and seductive, the finish is framed by firm, instructive tannins that guide those savoury notes through to a lingering aftertaste of Christmas cake and undertones of mushroom. Smooth and surprising, defying expectations at every point but wrapping up satisfying.
Winemaking: Part made at Three Blue Ducks Rosebery, Sydney, part made at the Cellar Door Wine Festival, Adelaide – throughout March 2017. This is a wine by the people, for the people. A blend of the best components of the batches produced at the Urban Winery Project Season 6. 250+ people joined winemaker David Bowley in Sydney. Hundreds more helped destem, foot stomp and basket press, tasting it along the way, when they returned to Adelaide. Each of them has their names printed on a different bottle, so somewhere out there in the world are 10 bottles with only their name on it.
