Voluptuous Chardonnays mixed dozen offer
$348.00 inc. GST
This mixed dozen is a terrific-value journey through three New Zealand wine-growing areas producing similarly-styled Chardonnay, but with interesting regional differences.
Karikari Calypso Northland Chardonnay 2014:
Tasting Note: Dry and mineral-inflected without sacrificing on power. Citrus and stone fruit aromas follow through on the soft, refined palate. Fine and refreshing, crisp in the finish with a pleasing amount of oak influence – more complex than your typical easy-drinking style of Chardonnay, but so charming in character that it’s hard to resist.
Harakeke Farm Nelson Chardonnay 2015:
Tasting Note: Nectarine and peach notes are complimented by attractive oak aromas. Concentrated stonefruit and an elegant texture from the oak are given focus by the underlying acidity. Hand-harvested with low crop levels. Wild ferment in 500L French Oak Puncheon. Partial malolactic fermentation with lees stirring during its 11 months in barrel.
Rock Ferry 3rd Rock Marlborough Chardonnay 2016:
Tasting Note: This Chardonnay has an intriguing bouquet of toasted walnut, nougat, & nectarine with distinctive notes of vanilla bean & lemon curd. A little crème brûlée on the palate with generous stone fruit flavours & a persistent line of acidity; laced with toasty, walnut complexities, the wine finishes dry & austere.
