Website policy · Last updated September 2026
We want every order from Great Little Vineyards to arrive safely and match what you ordered. This policy applies to purchases made directly from us online or through our retail store and is in addition to your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986. Purchases made from another retailer are subject to that retailer’s returns process.
At a glance
- Change of mind: you have 7 days from delivery to return unopened wine in its original condition, either in store or by post. Return postage is at your cost; there is no charge if you bring it in. The original delivery charge is not refunded.
- Damaged, missing or incorrect orders: contact us within 48 hours of delivery. We will replace the item where stock allows, or refund it. If it needs to come back to us, we arrange collection or cover the reasonable return cost.
- Faulty or corked wine: contact us as soon as reasonably possible, and keep the bottle, closure and remaining wine until we have assessed it.
- Refunds are made to the original payment method.
- None of the above affects your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Damaged, Missing or Incorrect Orders
Please check your order when it arrives and contact us as soon as possible (ideally within 48 hours) if anything is broken, damaged, missing or incorrect.
Please provide your order number, a description of the issue and, where possible, photographs of the product and packaging. Prompt notification helps us resolve the matter with the courier, but it does not limit any rights you may have under New Zealand consumer law.
Where an item has been damaged in transit, including breakage or label damage, or we have supplied the wrong product, we will arrange a replacement where stock is available or provide an appropriate refund. If the product needs to be returned, we will arrange collection or cover the reasonable return cost.
Faulty Wine
If you believe a wine is corked or otherwise faulty, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide your order number or proof of purchase.
Please retain the bottle, closure and remaining wine until we have assessed the issue, as we may ask for the bottle to be returned. Where a wine is assessed as faulty, we will provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with New Zealand consumer law. For older or rare wines, the wine’s nature, age, price and any condition disclosed before purchase will be taken into account when assessing acceptable quality.
Change of Mind or Personal Taste
If you change your mind, you may return unopened wine within 7 days of delivery, provided it is in its original condition — unopened, undamaged, with labels and packaging intact, and stored appropriately since delivery. The same 7-day window applies to wine bought in our retail store, measured from the date of purchase and subject to proof of purchase.
Please contact us before returning anything, so that we can confirm the return. You are welcome to bring the wine in to our Orakei Bay Village store during opening hours, or to post it back to the address we give you. If you post it, the cost of return postage is yours; there is no charge if you return it in person. The original delivery charge is not refunded either way. Once we have received the wine and confirmed its condition, we will refund the purchase price to your original payment method. We do not offer exchanges.
This 7-day window and the return cost apply to change-of-mind returns only. If a wine is faulty, damaged, missing or incorrectly supplied, it is covered by the sections above instead — there is no 7-day limit, and we arrange collection or cover the reasonable return cost, so that you are not out of pocket.
We do not provide refunds solely because a wine is not to your personal preference once it has been opened. If you believe a wine is corked or otherwise faulty, please contact us as outlined under “Faulty Wine” above.
This does not affect your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where a product is faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or does not match its description. To the extent permitted by law, we may decline a remedy where the relevant condition was disclosed before purchase or the issue was caused by mishandling, improper storage or damage after delivery.
Cancelling an Order
Please contact us immediately if you wish to cancel or amend an order. If the order has not yet been processed or dispatched, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Once an order has been processed or dispatched, cancellation may not be possible unless required under New Zealand consumer law.
Refunds
Approved refunds will be made to the original payment method. Once processed by us, the time taken for the funds to appear may depend on your bank or payment provider.
Where wine is returned under the change-of-mind provision above, the cost of returning it is met by you if you post it, and nothing if you bring it in to the store. The original delivery charge is not refunded. Where wine is faulty, damaged, missing or incorrectly supplied, we arrange collection or cover the reasonable return cost. Delivery, collection and return costs are otherwise handled in accordance with New Zealand consumer law.
