Lethbridge Le Droit 2021

The Story: The River Gironde, in France, defines one of the most prestigious wine regions of the world, famous for its ‘Cabernets’. The Left Bank of the river produces wines anchored on Cabernet Sauvignon, whereas the Right Bank is recognized for its Merlot and Cabernet Franc dominant wines. Left or Right, the beauty of these wines derives from the blended synergy of these varieties. The 2021 vintage in Geelong was cool and very long, making it exceptional for these varieties. Our passion therefore compelled us to experiment with this perfect fruit to produce our response to the Left and Right bank.

Tasting Note: This wine, Le Droit, is 50% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Franc and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. The varieties were destemmed and fermented separately with wild yeast. They were then aged for 18 months in super fine grain new and one year old French oak before blending of the final wine. Le Droit is characterised by a voluptuous palate of dark berry, licorice, and spice. The alternate wine, La Gauche is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and has more tannin and structure. Try them both. Viva La Difference.
