“This has been built for the ages but is already delicious. Enormously powerful and structured, but the wildness has been tamed through the long maturation and the tannins are now very soft, and somehow this full-bodied Chateauneuf-du-Pape has become mellow and restrained. Lots of meaty and savory complexity through the crescendo of the finish. 65% grenache matured in a mix of concrete tanks and oak casks and 35% syrah matured exclusively in wooden casks for a total of 38 months. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling

Tasting Notes: Powerful, elegant and refined wine designed for long ageing. The nose shows intense blackberry and blackcurrant, carried by earthy notes. The palate is dense with notes of tobacco, cedar and cherries, leading to an intense and lengthy finish.

Winemaking Notes: Harvesting is done by hand in 25 kg crates. After a double selection of the best bunches in the vineyard then on a sorting table, the grapes are vinified in all clusterfor the Grenache and the Syrahs are destemmed. The vinification takes place in concrete tank. The is carefully aged for 18 months and 60% in barrels. The barrels of exceptional qualities are made from Colbert oak from the french forest of Tronçais. The wine is blended and bottled f without filtration or fining and refined for 12 months in bottle before to be sale.

Varieties: The Grenache are from the oldest part of the Domaine de la Solitude, planted by my great-grandfather at the beginning of last century it is located on the western slope of “La Crau” on a terroir of safre. The Syrahs flourish on the fresh soil of Safre des “Blachieres”. 65% centennial black Grenache, 35% Syrah These two great Terroirs are always vinified separately but only the great years, 5 vintages of the last 10 Secret Reserve is created.
