“Very attractive nose of raspberries, licorice and oranges with a touch of summer flowers. Round and silky on the full-bodied palate, the ample tannins are beautifully integrated, making the long, refined finish velvety. A cuvee of 65% greanche, 20% syrah, and 5% each of mourvedre, counoise and cinsault from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling
“Macerated for 30 days, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine de la Solitude, a blend of 65% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault and 5% Counoise, offers up aromas of dark cherries, rose, violets, dark wild berries and licorice. Medium-bodied, round and enveloping, it’s perfectly juicy with a sappy mid-palate, concluding with a fresh, penetrating finish. This is a classic, elegant Châteauneuf-du-Pape, partly destemmed and matured for 15 months in concrete tanks (90%) and the rest in new barrels. Drink 2024 to 2034.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Tasting Notes: 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Counoise, 5% Cinsault. A bouquet of garrigue, flowers of cistus, blackcurrant buds. A mouth full of freshness and balance, with aromas of cocoa and morello cherry, with a long and liquorice finish. In its youth, this vintage is perfect to pair with a shoulder of lamb slow roasted in oven, roast pigeon with porcini mushroom, and from its fifth year, stew, Daube Provencal, all game and many cheeses.
Winemaking: Harvesting is done by hand in 25 kg crates. After a double selection of the best bunches in the vineyard then on the sorting table. The grapes are vinified as whole or destemmed according to the grape varieties. They are vinified in truncated concrete vats. The wines are then aged for 25% in barrels, demi muids and foudre and 75% in vats during 18 months. The wine is bottled without filtration or fining.
