Hans Herzog Mistral 2022

$69.00 inc. GST

Accolades:
“Terrific Rhone Blend!” – James Suckling

Tasting Notes:
A rich Rhône-style white showing aromas of quince, apricot and honeycomb alongside delicate florals and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is full and textured with layers of stone fruit, citrus and gentle spice. Viognier brings aromatic lift, Roussanne adds structure, while Marsanne provides weight and a creamy texture. Long, silky and balanced by vibrant acidity.

Winemaking Notes:
“The name Mistral pays tribute to the cool wind of France’s Rhône Valley, known for preserving freshness during warm seasons. In Marlborough, warm days and cool nights create a similar balance, allowing these Rhône varieties to achieve ripeness while maintaining energy. The fruit underwent cold maceration to enhance aromatic complexity and texture. Marsanne and Roussanne were wild-fermented together and aged in a 500L French oak puncheon on fine lees for 20 months. Viognier was fermented separately and matured the same way before blending. Bottled unfined (vegan), without cold stabilisation, and lightly filtered.” – Hans Herzog
