Accolades:
95/100 – Wine Enthusiast
95/100 – James Suckling

“The latest release of this producer’s prestige cuvée comes in a bottle designed by artist Jordane Saget. It is a fine, 40/60 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay giving white fruits and tight citrus flavors. The Champagne’s elegance and mature fruitiness is impressive. Drink now or keep.” – Wine Enthusiast

Aromas of white peaches and lemon pie with chalk and stone undertones. Full and creamy with a subtle, elegant structure and softness. Nicely tart and tensioned. Lovely finish and focus. Disgorged beginning of 2022 with 5g/L dosage. Tasted from magnum. Fantastic now, and will be even better in another two or three years.” – James Suckling

Tasting Note: Cuvée Joséphine celebrates the touching story of Joseph Perrier, a father who, on the occasion of the wedding of his daughter Josephine, offered her the very best champagne he could make. For that occasion he designed the most beautiful hand painted bottle which was decorated with fine gold. The colour is yellow gold tinged with glowing coppery elements. The nose combines the floral fragrance of an iris garden and notes of “spicy-sweet” balsam and an exotic aroma of sandalwood. As it opens up the senses are assaulted by aromas of dried fruits, fig and prune. Finally there are sensual spicy elements. The palate is truly vinous with great vivacity. The Pinot Noir releases powerful fruit flavours enriched with almond notes, and a touch of vanilla. The Chardonnay is refreshing on the palate, with touches of pastry flavours. The finish is long, and complex and intense, with a soothing note of white truffles of Alba. The style of Joséphine can be characterised in two words: Intensity and Balance.

Winemaking Notes: Cuvée Joséphine is made up of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir coming from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Avize, Vertus, Chouilly, Cumières, Mailly and Le Mesnil sur Oger. It is aged in bottle for a minimum of 6 years. The riddling is done manually on pupitres. Each bottle passes through the hands of around ten cellar hands, all passionate about the creation of exceptional champagnes.
