$59.90 inc. GST

Created to celebrate diverse small-production vineyards around New Zealand, the Kemp Road series brings together great artisan winegrowers, whānau, history and the work of a professional artist in one beautiful package. Kemp Road wines are produced in close collaboration with the best artisan winemakers of New Zealand as one-off special edition releases of their favourite wines.

Taonga is the te reo Māori word for “Treasure” or “Wealth” – referring to the wealth of the land our artisan winemakers are bestowed with to craft the greatest of wines, and especially in a generous, even bountiful vintage such as 2013.

95/100 – Bob Campbell MW

“A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and malbec from the Gimblett Gravels and a highly-celebrated vintage. Mellow, almost luscious and intensely fruity wine with cassis, black berry, ripe plum, dried herbs and spick oak flavours. An attractively-scented wine with a lengthy finish.” – Bob Campbell MW

Tasting Note: This 2013 Cabernet-Merlot-Malbec blend from Gimblett Road, Hawke’s Bay, is powerful, open and enveloping, with vibrant red fruits and an opulent, silky texture. From a historically great vintage in the region, it expresses the spirit of a very special piece of land, and the craft of its artisan winemaker.

Winemaking Notes: All varieties were harvested separately from vineyards around Gimblett Road. The fruit was de-stemmed with minimal crushing and transferred  to closed fermenters. Warm fermentation on skins for maximum colour, aroma and flavour extraction. Aged in French and American barriques for 18 months. Fined with egg white.
