Tasting Note: A vintage with higher humidity, but also higher average temperature, than the 1997 resulted in a more delicate and floral Providence. The nose requires time in a decanter to reveal its complexities – crushed stone, incredibly intense florals, and sweet red fruits that emerge with time. The palate also evolves, developing from shy reticence to something more colossal over the course of a good hour, with deep tannins and a tannic palate intensity. Already open, its structure will lend itself to a few more years of careful cellaring.
