“The Corners is Rock Ferry’s equivalent of a home block (it’s where the winery and cellar door can be found) in the heart of the Marlborough region. This was one of two grüners that really shone (the other was the Eaton Wines offering, although that didn’t make it into the top 50). Peppery, buttery, honeydew melon and radish aromas with wafts of smoke after fireworks, this has great body, balance and length, with a delicious, salty finish.” – Metro Magazine
Tasting Note: This Grüner Veltliner has a complex bouquet of pear drops and kaffir lime with a mineral palate of mandarin oranges, grapefruit and white pepper characters finishing with a crisp acidity.
Winemaking: The grapes were hand harvested, bunch sorted, and gently whole bunch pressed. The free run portion was settled for 24 hours, and the cloudy juice was transferred to 225 litre barrels (70% stainless steel and 30% seasoned oak) for fermentation. A mixture of half indigenous and half cultured yeasts on the portions was used for complexity. The wine was left on full ferment lees for 8 months prior to racking and bottling. 2.8g/l residual sugar.
Certification: Organic
