“Voluminous and layered, freshened by menthol and spice, unveiling leather, tobacco and strength. Velvety, tightly-weaved tannins contribute opulence, along with enlivening acidity provides vitality to this stunning flagship wine.” – Candice Chow
“A serious, ambitious and structured red, this is powerful, ripe and dense, balanced by just enough vibrant acidity to create definition for its core of violet and myriad black fruit flavours. New oak brings spice, coffee and chocolate into the mix while the bed of submerged tannins provides size and heft. This muscular, concentrated wine is a touch monolithic at present but there is innate depth and it will reward cellaring as its layers unfurl over time.” – Stephen Wong MW
“Very pretty polish and depth to this Bordeaux blend. It’s medium- to full-bodied with creamy and round tannins that give form and length. Blackberry, blackcurrant and dark chocolate character. Lasts for minutes on the finish. Delicious now, but better in three or four years.” – James Suckling
Tasting Note: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec. The flagship wine of our Waiheke Island vineyard, Te Motu is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot and Franc, hand harvested from low-yielding vines. The wine enjoys extended élevage and maturing in premium French oak before beginning a minimum 3 year term resting in bottle. On release, the wine shows elegance, complexity and firm yet supple tannins – the hallmarks of its longevity – and will continue to reward cellaring.
