“The 2015 Deidesheimer Kalkofen Riesling Trocken GG has intense and fully ripe fruit aromas on the deep, dusty, slightly chalky and lemon-flavored nose, with its enigmatic purity. These aromas lead to a lovely, round and ripe palate; it is almost lush, but also mineral, structured and persistently salty. The wine has a firm grip and a long, aromatic finish.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Good news for those who may begin to find the repetitive linking of barrique and von Winning a bit tedious, as in the case of the Kalkofen there is no call for it. A fresh breeze of green and even some more exotic fruit caresses the nose. The flavour delivers a cool expression of zesty lime and juicy melon, all backed up by a compact substance. With all that freshness and coolness there’s got to be some minerality in there!” – Michael Schmidt, jancisrobinson.com

“This is a powerful, authoritative riesling, full-bodied (13% alc/vol), oak-aged and dry. Lemon-scented, with concentrated, ripe, citrusy, peachy flavours, a distinct touch of complexity and good acid spine, it’s already drinking well.” – Michael Cooper

Tasting Note: From vineyards on the plateau above Grainhu¨bel and behind the winery. Sandstone and limestone. 100% new oak fermentation. Ripe peach, papaya and apricot. Spicy, salty and creamy. Great acidity and lots of tension.
