“Tasted from magnum, the 2013 Essenzia di Caiarossa is a modern and contemporary wine. Each year the blend of grapes changes. Last time I tasted this wine, the mix saw Syrah and Alicante. This vintage is a blend of 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon instead. This vintage was only produced in large-format bottles. The oak influences are evident with toasted cinnamon spice, campfire ash and charred earth. The wine’s appearance is impenetrable and dense. Those dark fruit favors are sticky, succulent and ripe. Tasting Note: Essenzia born in 2009, a new label in Caiarossa’s collection meant to express and celebrate the deepest soul of the company, its very essence, and therefore produced only when ‘out-of-the-ordinary’ vintages are recorded. The blend may change from time to time, depending on the harvest of a specific year, thus favoring grapes that demonstrate an outstanding character and make it possible to create a wine with a balanced structure, endowed with a refined elegance to the palate and distinctive perfumes to the smell. A special collection of a few hundred magnums.
