Accolades:
93/100 – Guia Peñin

Tasting Note: 36% Cariñera, 49% Garnacha, 13% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 12 months in French oak barrels. The wine has notes of licorice and fennel, typical of this area, which give it a very Mediterranean profile, and shows concentration, maturity, balance and acidity. The glossy finish is long and persistent with elegant tannins. Planted on terraces of blue slate and quartz soils known as llicorella, among pine and olive trees, the vines grow to very low yield close to the property to ensure that the grapes arrive in optimum condition. The hand-picked grapes are fermented separately in small open stainless steel tanks of 15 and 30 HL and some in 500L French oak barrels. The Gil family’s latest project in the Priorat grows vines aged 20-50 years. The wine is produced in the Mas Perxet country house amidst the rugged landscape and typical Llicorella del Priorat slate soils near the Siurana River in the municipality of El Molar.
