“It’s magnificently matured, showing dark berry, smoked game, dried herb, truffle and almond aromas, wonderfully enhanced by outstanding concentration and plush mouthfeel. It’s opulent and refined at the same time with sophistication and seamless flow. Totally seductive. At its best: now to 2024.” – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“No mistaking the purity, power and elegance of this Pinot with oak leading the package of aromas. Forrest berries, brown spices abundant in vanilla and clove scents. Dry, spiced, chalky, fine tannins, silky textures and a core of red berry fruits. Earthy and sophisticated, lenthy and packed with Pinosity.” – Cameron Douglas MS
“The wine has strength and depth, displaying on a condensed, weighty mouthfeel with a creamy, velvety texture. Savoury complexity added interest to an already complete wine. Fine-grained tannin is integrated and supple along with lacy acidity, provide immense pleasure. The development is evident as an 11-year-old wine, but there’s plenty of time ahead with the support of intensity and length. This is an enticing Pinot Noir packed with complex development, concentration and strength, full of beautiful flavours to be discovered.” – Candice Chow
Tasting Note: Just released, this is Mon Cheval’s upper tier Pinot Noir only produced in top vintages. Dark, deep and complex, the broad bouquet shows savoury dark berry, cured meat, mushroom and forest floor. A touch of aniseed and floral perfumes also come through, possibly from the use of whole bunch stalks. The wine has an abundance of ripe berry and plum fruit flavours, mushroom and dried herbs, with an instantly appealing savoury complexity and lingering finish.
