Choosing Mon Cheval wines

Choose your Pinot Noir label and vintage

LeChar, Mon Cheval Pinot Noir and Mon Petit offer several starting points. The current LeChar selection includes 2015, 2016 and 2017, with each release’s own tasting and winemaking notes. LeChar Pinot Noir 2017 is described as a barrel selection aged for 18 months in 40% new oak. Compare that information with the other vintages instead of treating all LeChar releases as interchangeable.

Mon Petit Pinot Noir 2016 has carbonic maceration and whole-bunch fermentation described in its notes, while the Mon Cheval Pinot Noir selection includes 2019 and 2021. When comparing older and newer bottles, read the exact vintage’s tasting notes and ask the team for drinking advice if needed. Our wider red wine collection offers related choices.

Riesling and rosé

Mon Cheval Riesling 2020 and 2021 are both described as off-dry, with citrus fruit and fresh acidity. The 2022 rosé is made from Pinot Noir, with strawberry and floral notes and a dry finish described on its bottle page. Compare the stated sweetness, food matches and vintage when choosing. If selecting a mixed producer selection, check its listed contents, as it may bring together wines from several estates.
