Chene Bleu Heloïse 2015

$195.00 inc. GST

Peter Abelard was a medieval French scholar, theologian and logician who had a legendary love affair with Heloise, a brilliant scholar of Latin, Greek and Hebrew. Together they represent the coming-together of minds and passion, and are history’s ultimate “power couple”. Grenache-predominant Abelard is the more brooding and masculine, while Syrah-predominant Heloise is the more delicate and feminine.

“Tasted from tank prior to bottling, the 2015 IGP Vaucluse Heloise is silky, rich and long. Full-bodied yet elegant, with layers of cherry fruit that turn crisp and cranberry-like on the long finish, it looks to be another top vintage for this cuvée.” – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“Its ruby/plum hue is followed by a gorgeous nose of red and black fruits, smoked meat, bay leaf, herbes de Provence, camphor, and sandalwood-like nuances. I love its complexity, it’s medium to full-bodied, and it has a seamless mouthfeel and ultra-fine tannins. It’s another remarkable wine from this brilliant team that I wish every reader could taste. It’s drinking perfectly today yet will evolve nicely over the coming decade.” – Jeb Dunnuck

A beautiful red, with a true terroir imprint. Shows salty black licorice and tapenade that infuse a base of rich cherry ganache, pepper and anise. Round and rich, this still has a lot of structure and impressive depth, with cashmere tannins softened by time.” – Wine Spectator

Tasting Note: 70% Syrah, 26% Grenache, 4% Roussanne. Deep, brilliant crimson color. Rich and intense aromas with fruit notes and hints of spice.
